Blue Chalcedony Pearls and Sterling Silver Earrings “Blue Jeans”

When you look at earrings like these, you tend to think nice, pretty, beautiful or not bad.

Handmade anything takes time. Very few people realize what goes into something like this.
I am a visual, hands-on artist. I love to figure things out for myself to come up with something hopefully a little different.

I started making what I call bubble tops. 3 components for these earrings. Pear shape chalcedony, freshwater pearls and sterling silver wire.
This first thing to take into consideration is the size of the main beads. This dictates to me how large the bubble top has to be made. In this case I figured 2 1/2 ft. of sterling wire for each earring. Sounds like a lot, and it is. I am weaving pearls. I need enough wire for height and width.
If the bubble top come out too small it would make the earrings look really funny.

You have to love what you do.

The pair has to be made at the same time to hopefully come out as identical as possible.
If I weave 3 pearls on one earring, I put that down and do the other.
The entire process takes me 4 hours to complete one pair. I am so engrossed in what I’m doing, for me it goes quickly.
How did I learn this? I just decided to experiment and kept practicing.

This is “Blue Jeans” with sterling hammered hooks. I think they are fun! Worn with a dress or blue jeans.
A Very Happy New Year to Everyone! http://www.zeejewelry.com
